These terms govern your use of the Daily Focus Chrome extension ("the extension", "Daily Focus"). By installing or using the extension, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not install or use it. Daily Focus is a personal project by Aurimas Baciauskas, operated from Denmark ("we", "us").
The service
Daily Focus is a free browser extension that replaces your new tab with a dashboard for your three daily focuses, a Pomodoro timer, a 30-day streak grid, and an optional spaced-repetition language card in 18 languages. It has no account system and no server. All features run locally in your browser.
License to use
We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to install and use the extension for your own productivity and learning. You may not:
- resell, sublicense, or redistribute the extension as your own;
- decompile, reverse-engineer, or tamper with the extension except where such restriction is prohibited by law;
- use the extension for any unlawful purpose or in a way that infringes the rights of others.
Your own API key and costs
You are responsible for any API key you add and all charges it incurs. The optional AI features require your own Anthropic API key. Any usage fees, rate limits, or charges billed by Anthropic are solely your responsibility. We never see your key (it stays in your browser) and we are not a party to your relationship with Anthropic or any other provider.
AI-generated content
The language-learning phrases, translations, pronunciations, and answer grading are generated by third-party AI services and automated tools. They may be inaccurate, incomplete, or unsuitable for a given context. Daily Focus is a casual learning aid, not a certified translation, education, or examination tool. Do not rely on its output for professional, legal, medical, financial, or other consequential decisions. Verify anything important with a qualified source.
Third-party services
The extension calls external services (Open-Meteo, BigDataCloud, Anthropic, Google Translate, and various news RSS feeds) directly from your browser. Those services are operated by independent third parties under their own terms and privacy policies. We do not control them, are not responsible for their availability, accuracy, or content, and are not liable for any loss arising from their use. See the Privacy Policy for the full list.
Your data and backups
Your focuses, deck, and settings are stored in your browser and, if cloud sync is enabled, in your Google account. You are responsible for your own data. We cannot recover data that is lost through uninstalling the extension, clearing browser storage, browser or device failure, or Google account changes. We recommend not relying on the extension as your sole record of anything important.
Availability and changes
The extension is provided on an ongoing best-effort basis. We may update, change, suspend, or discontinue any feature, or the extension as a whole, at any time and without notice. Updates are distributed through the Chrome Web Store. We may also update these terms; the "Last updated" date will reflect any change, and continued use after a change means you accept the revised terms.
No warranty
The extension is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranty of any kind, whether express or implied, including but not limited to warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the extension will be uninterrupted, error-free, secure, or free of harmful components, or that it will meet your requirements.
Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, we shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss of data, profits, productivity, or goodwill, arising out of or related to your use of (or inability to use) the extension, even if advised of the possibility of such damages. Because the extension is provided free of charge, our total aggregate liability for any claim relating to it shall not exceed EUR 0 (or, where a minimum applies by law, the amount you paid for the extension, which is nothing).
Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability that cannot be excluded or limited under applicable law, including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud. If you are a consumer in the EU, you retain all mandatory statutory rights, and these terms do not affect them.
Indemnity
You agree to hold us harmless from any claim or demand arising out of your misuse of the extension, your violation of these terms, or your infringement of any third party's rights, to the extent permitted by law.
Intellectual property
The Daily Focus name, design, and original code are the property of the developer. These terms do not transfer any ownership in the extension to you. Third-party content surfaced by the extension (news headlines, AI output, translations) remains the property of its respective owners.
Termination
You may stop using the extension and uninstall it at any time. We may discontinue the extension or revoke your license if you breach these terms. On termination, the license granted to you ends; the disclaimers and liability limitations above survive.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of Denmark, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Disputes shall be subject to the jurisdiction of the Danish courts, except where mandatory consumer-protection law gives you the right to bring proceedings in your country of residence.
Severability
If any provision of these terms is found unenforceable, the remaining provisions stay in full effect, and the unenforceable provision will be applied to the maximum extent permitted by law.
